When you talk about ‘tropical decor’ it probably sparks memories of kitschy (or even downright tacky!) interiors that now are just laughable, but fear not! Tropical decor is back in a big way – and it’s all grown up

Emerald & moody turquoise tones, foliage and other natural elements combined with gold or brass details, velvets and modern, luxe styling make up this exciting new take on ‘tropical’.

Natural components give this look an overall calming effect, while the ‘luxe’ details give it a touch of class and sophistication.

Or why not a framed print to liven up a tired space?

A great way to get this look without the maintenance of living plants, are faux plants that really only require an occasional dusting to look their best. Faux plants are also inexpensive and widely available, the plant above is only $20 from Target and easy to incorporate into your styling.

Another great way is with tropical print fabrics and wallpapers. Cushions, curtains and bedspreads are easily splashed with colour if you wish to keep the more permanent components of your home on the neutral side.

As you can see, there are a variety of ways to bring nature indoors and create your own tropical paradise at home (minus the creepy crawlies!).
